Description:
Crime Stoppers and HPD Robbery Investigators are asking the public’s help in capturing two Hispanic male bandits who grabbed a woman’s purse and wounded her 83-year-old aunt in the process.
The victim had obtained two cashier’s checks at a nearby bank, and a large amount of cash in her purse as well. She drove to the Walgreen’s pharmacy in the 10600 block of the Eastex Freeway, parked her vehicle, placed her purse on the driver’s side floorboard and entered the pharmacy. Her 83-year-old aunt stayed in the locked vehicle.
Surveillance video from inside the Walgreen’s store shows the suspects entering the store separately and exiting quickly prior to the actual robbery. The first suspect wore a white shirt, blue jeans, and a dark cap. He was talking to someone on his cell phone as he exited the store. The second suspect came in a few seconds later, wearing a black shirt with a large design on the front, a zippered hooded sweater, and blue jeans. Both suspects had short dark hair and looked to be between 18-25 years old.
After the suspects exited the pharmacy, one broke the driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and grabbed her purse. The aunt grabbed one of the purse straps in an effort to prevent the theft. As the thief pulled the purse free from the woman’s grasp, she cut her left arm on the broken window glass. The thief took the purse and fled the scene with the second suspect in a gray or silver vehicle.
